Your first Sunday, start to finish

Walking into a new church is a strange feeling. We remember it. So here is the whole morning, minute by minute, with nothing left to guess at.

The run of show

A first Sunday, minute by minute

based on the 9:00 service; the 11:00 runs the same

8:47 AM The gravel lot park anywhere; the spots by the door are saved for guests and grandmothers
8:52 AM The front porch somebody shakes your hand and walks you in; nobody hands you a clipboard
8:55 AM Coffee, then a seat sit anywhere; the back row is a fine and honorable choice
9:00 AM Singing & prayer a few hymns, a few newer songs; words on the screen, nobody grading you
9:30 AM The sermon about thirty-five minutes, straight through a passage of the Bible
10:15 AM Amen & donuts stay for coffee in the hall, or slip out the side door; both are allowed
This week Banana bread a loaf on your porch and one short note; no one shows up unannounced

400 Dove Hill Road, Milburn, TX 75692
Both doors work. The east one is closer to the coffee.

Warm bulb lights strung across the fellowship hall

After the amen

Nobody traps you at the door

When the service ends, there is coffee and something sweet in the fellowship hall. Stay ten minutes or stay an hour. If you would rather head straight to the truck, that is fine too, and nobody will chase you down with a form.

If you do want to talk, Pastor Ray stands by the east door after both services, and he is never in a hurry.

Bringing kids?

They’re expected

Check-in

Two minutes, once

First-time check-in takes about two minutes at the kids’ desk. You get a tag that matches theirs, and only you can pick them up.

During service

Nursery & kids’ church

Nursery for ages 0–3 all morning. Kids’ church for ages 4 through 5th grade during the 11:00 service. At 9:00, kids sit with you, and that is welcome.

Who’s with them

Screened volunteers

Every kids’ volunteer is screened and background-checked, and no volunteer is ever alone with a child.

Asked honestly, answered honestly

The questions people actually have

Visibility

Will I be singled out?

No. We will not make you stand, raise your hand, or wear a sticker. You can be as anonymous as you want for as long as you want.

The plate

What about the offering?

A plate passes during the service. It is for our members, not our guests. Please let it go by; your being here is the gift.

Doubts

I’m not sure what I believe

Then you will fit right in with half the people we love best. Come with your questions. Nobody here is afraid of them.

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28

Tell us you’re coming, or just come

A quick hello ahead of time lets us save you the good parking and have your kids’ tags ready. But the door opens either way.
